The “Monte della Croce” historic-military theme path

The path starts in Pian di Gembro, in front of the agritourism La Quercia Antica. This route of historic-military interest dates back to the First World War, is easy to complete and thoroughly documented by a series of explanatory panels. It was part of the Cadorna Line, for the defence of national borders, in the event of an Austrian assault.

From Aprica you can reach different theme-based paths. Each with their own renowned characteristics, of unmatchable naturalistic value. Respect for the local area, history and cultural memory converge, bringing to life experiences you can enjoy with all your family or alone, to get back in touch with yourself...

The historic-military path Monte della Croce

Aprica - Piscé

Start from Piazza delle sei contrade and head west down Corso Roma until the Infopoint; turn right into Via Bernina, then left into Via Stelvio, until contrada Dosso. Pass the contrada and continue along Via della Noce, until you reach a wayside shrine.

Corteno – Casciù – Piazza

Start from the sports centre square in Corteno. At the roundabout go along Via Pradela for 300m, then take the dirt road on your right, which leads straight to the Casciù junction; here, follow the signpost and take the flat road on the right. Continue as far as the typical lodges of Casciù, where the descent begins, once more along a dirt road. You'll pass a few clusters of lodges in Palù; keep to the dirt road along the descent until the characteristic hamlet of Piazza.

Pian di Gembro - Doverio

From the Pian di Gembro car park head east and take the path leading to the Pian di Gembro - Dolaf dirt road. Turn left at the first junction, until you come to a road. From here proceed eastwards, remain on the main road until the Camprena Dolaf junction, then keep left on the road leading to Camprena, where the ascent begins. At the first junction in Prena, take the flat road on the right, which leads to Donase. From here return on the paved road and continue downwards to Doverio.
