Aprica San Pietro – Bratte – Colonia path

Start from Piazza delle sei contrade and head east down Corso Roma and turn right into Via Tonale which continues into Via Ospitale. At the fountains at 2 different crossings along this road you can fill up your bottle with fresh mountain water. Turn left at the junction above contrada S. Pietro. The paved road leads to a dirt one as soon as you pass the bridge over the Ogliolo, which marks the start of the ascent. Panoramic views of Aprica, Pian di Gembro and Monte Padrio surrounds you along this part of the route, which is simple and suitable for everyone. Birches, firs and larches line the sides of the road, shading from the sun along the toughest parts. The road continues east, past a few lodges, softly ascending along a few turns, up to a junction.

Bear left, where the road descends and leads past a small stream. (Bearing right and going west along the road, in just a few minutes you reach the Chiesetta di S. Giovanni, in Bratte spot).

The gentle descent continues, without any drastic elevation differences, so that along this stretch we can observe S. Pietro di Corteno Golgi from above.

At the junction take the road that descends on your left, after a few turns you will reach the Colonia (at the end of Via Valeriana) and return to the starting point, along Via Valeriana and Via Europa.
