Without a doubt the most beautiful and safest way of reaching Aprica is from San Giacomo di Teglio, along a route that is suitable for anyone looking to enjoy a spot of safe cycling. Indeed this mountain road is quiet, with barely any vehicle traffic. A long climb, over 18 kilometres long, leads through a wood, with most of the journey in the shade. There are some clearings along the way, with green meadows, a few lodges, but no catering points.

One of the most beautiful and relatively simple ways of reaching the Mortirolo Pass is to climb from Aprica  and pass through Trivigno. Off the beaten track of the men's Giro d'Italia, parts of it are included in the women's competition. The 27.8 km route is rich in climbs interspersed with flatter stretches, pleasant slopes and descents. It is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy nature. Indeed it includes a number of woodland stretches, where you can fill your lungs with the perfume of resin and wood.

The legendary Mortirolo Pass, which despite "only" standing at 1852 m, presents stretches with gradients of up to 23%! The climb, also made famous thanks to the great Marco Panatani, can be tackled as follows:

from Mazzo di Valtellina, with a 12 km climb and an elevation difference of 1300 m;
from Grosio (Tiolo district), with a 14 km climb and an elevation difference of 1100 m;
from Tovo Sant'Agata with a 12.5 km climb and an elevation difference of 1300 m (and a maximum gradient of 23%)

One of the most coveted climbs by cyclists, which owes its legendary status to the Giro d'Italia, the Stelvio Pass stands at 2,758 m, making it the highest pass in Italy that is accessible by car. A spectacular series of bends (40 on the Lombard slope and 48 on the Alto Adige side)connect Valtellina to South Tyrol. Just below the pass, on the Valtellina side, the road crosses the Umbrail Pass, which leads onto Engadina (Switzerland).

The climb from Bormio to the Stelvio Pass is 21 km long, with an elevation difference of 1500 m and a maximum gradient of 13%.

Immersed in the Stelvio National Park, the Gavia is one of Europe's highest Alpine passes; at 2652 m, it connects Valtellina with Ponte di Legno, in the province of Brescia. Just like the Stelvio and Mortirolo, the Gavia is one of the passes made famous by the Giro d'Italia.

From S. Caterina Valfurva, the route climbs 900 m for around 13 km, initially immersed in fir, larch and scots pine forests, before entering the high-altitude grasslands of the Gavia Pass and the landscape characterised by the millennial action of the Tresero and Dosegù glaciers.

B.51 Epic Tour Venerocolo

An itinerary that starts in Aprica and takes you along the entire Val Belviso, at altitudes ranging from 1900m to 2316m. Unique panoramic views, with the beautiful Lago Belviso at the bottom of the valley, with the majestic Monte Torena towering over it, will accompany you along most of the route. Go up to Malga Magnolta, along a very steep dirt road (less fit cyclists can ascend by gondola); from the Malga take the long military dirt road leading to Passo Venerocolo.

B.43 Palabione Valsorda Flow Trail

The path starts at the top of the Palabione gondola and descends towards Aprica, through confer forests. The first part is flat, very pleasant and fun: wide bends mean you can enjoy the entire descent but pay attention to draining water and a few stony stretches, which can be very insidious, especially when wet. The central part is tortuous, with some curves that are steeper, although the gradient never exceeds 20%. Return to the town along a dirt road.

B.42 Magnolta Valsorda Flow Trail

The itinerary starts from the Magnolta gondola arrival point. Fitter cyclists can ride up the hill, following itinerary B.06 Aprica-Magnolta-Premalt tour until km 5.8, where the path begins, on the left. The initial stretch is flat and straightforward, with a highly compact surface, but don't go too fast as the path is also popular with hikers.
